Tiffany A. Cate MS, LMHC

Ms. Cate is a licensed mental health counselor and therapist who specializes in trauma. She is an avid runner and fly fisher and has been deeply involved in Discover Courage programs since 2012.


Jason Hitchcock

Jason was elected President of Discover Courage in 2017.

Jason has served on SEAL Teams EIGHT, FOUR and TWO, participating in 11 deployments to many countries over the last 25 years in different capacities. His last assignment was as Command Master Chief of Logistics and Support Unit for Naval Special Warfare Group TWO where he had the privilege to lead over 470 sailors, civilians, and contractors. Through all his military successes and professional triumphs, his family is easily the thing of which he is most proud. With his wife of 21 years he is raising 2 active children in Texas.


Brian Sargent

Brian serves as Discover Courage’s Vice-President.

Brian retired after decades of active duty service as a Navy SEAL. He is a veteran of multiple combat deployments and is a former Director and Chief Instructor of the Navy SEAL Scout Sniper School. He currently lives on the East Coast and works as a security consultant.


Way Yin, MD

Dr. Yin is a co- founder of Discover Courage, and serves as CEO. He is Board Certified in Pain Medicine, and a past president of the Spine Intervention Society. He is a passionate fly fisherman, and is an FFF and AAPGAI Master Certified Fly Casting Instructor and guide.

Sammy Davis

Sgt. Davis is a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.


Ron Gray

Ron has an extensive background in law enforcement, ATF and interaction with the IA/NMF community.  He has been a dedicated volunteer supporter of Discover Courage programs.


Macauley Lord

Macauley received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Casting Board of Governors of the Federation of Fly Fishers in 2011. He is the author of the L.L.Bean Fly-Casting Handbook, Revised Edition (Lyons Press, 2007) and has taught at the L.L.Bean Fly Fishing Schools since 1986.  He was Bean’s Head Instructor for twelve years and is a Registered Maine Fishing Guide. A recent seminary graduate, he trained as a hospital chaplain and now volunteers as a prison chaplain.


John McElheran

John is a long time Discover Courage supporter and volunteer, and serves as Secretary.  His extensive and diverse background provides great value and perspective for our program services and fundraising activities.


Doug Odishoo

Doug is an owner of Delta Arsenal, LLC and has been a dedicated supporter of Discover Courage.


Craig P

Craig has served on numerous SOF forces as an Army Ranger, Navy SEAL, and intelligence officer. He is a veteran of numerous overseas deployments, and retired as a Navy Captain. He currently resides on the West Coast and is active as a security consultant.


Bob Richardson

Robert is retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3) following nearly 30 years in SOF. He is a veteran of numerous combat missions, and has been a member of SEAL Teams TWO, FOUR, SIX, and EIGHT. He has served as a SEAL BUD/S instructor, and has overseen numerous advanced land warfare training commands. He has a BS and Masters degree in Criminal Justice and currently works in the private sector.


LCDR Christopher Smith MD

LCDR Christopher Smith, M.D., is an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon, Assistant Professor of Surgery, and Chief of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia.

Dr. Smith began his naval service in 1993, spending the first part of his career as a Navy SEAL.  After earning his undergraduate degree in biology at Old Dominion University he completed his medical training at the Medical College of Virginia and then received his Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at the University of Florida. He went on to complete a fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery/Cornell in New York as well as an AO Trauma fellowship at the University of Tubingen BG Unfallklinik in Germany.

LCDR Smith has deployed twice in his career, once as a Navy SEAL assigned to SEAL Team FOUR in support of the Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in 1997, and once as an Orthopaedic Surgery Department Head assigned to Combat Outpost Shukvani, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2013.
